What NZ employers actually look for in a CV

A New Zealand hiring manager reads a CV in about thirty seconds the first time.

What they are looking for: what you did, where, for how long, and whether you can start. Not a personal statement, not a photo, and not a list of adjectives.

Write in the first person and be specific. "Ran the espresso machine through a 200-cup morning rush" beats "excellent customer service skills" every time, because the first one is a fact and the second one is a claim.

You do not need to include your age, your marital status, or a photograph. New Zealand employers are not allowed to select on any of those, and a CV that leads with them just spends space.
