Before you accept: confirm the start date in writing, check what the rent actually is in the suburb you would live in rather than the city average, and ask whether the role includes any relocation help. Many New Zealand employers will contribute and simply never mention it.

After you accept, before you go: give notice, redirect your mail, and tell IRD your new address.

After you arrive: register with a local GP before you need one. In smaller centres the lists close.
