How to choose a career that’s right for you

Most career advice starts with a list of jobs. That is the wrong end.
Start instead with the things you already do without being asked, the tasks other people come to you for, and the parts of a day that go quickly. Those three lists describe your working style better than any personality test.
Then look at where that style is scarce. In New Zealand right now it is scarce in trades, in aged care, in early childhood education, and in anything that keeps a building or a network standing up.
